Round 7 Catch Up!

Lee Richardson Cup

Caspers Barbarians

Friday night was very humid on the diamond at Boggabilla. We were taking on the Braves and were first up to bat. It was tough with Mel being the only Barbarian across the plate. On the mound, James took on the pitching duties for the first time this season. He did some great pitches getting some strikes and getting the ball to the batter but unfortunately Braves got 5 across home. The 2nd innings was a different story with some sensational batting and some good steals, we got 4 home. Trev pitched the 2nd innings and held the Braves to 1 across the plate. We were trailing 6-5 at the halfway mark. Braves changed pitcher and we only managed one more over the plate after that. Luke took on pitching duties but had sustained a niggling knock to his knee which put him off his pitching game. So Ben put his hand up to pitch the final innings. The highlight of the innings was a sensational catch by Luke in centre field with a throw to Les at first to get a smooth double play. The final score was 11-6 which is an amazing result and one for the Barbarians to be very proud of.

Caspers Crusaders

The Caspers Crusaders were looking to return to winning form when they took on the Red Sox Slammers in the early game at the CasperDome on Friday Night. Not wishing to repeat last week's pitching mistake the ball was handed instead to the team's usual pitcher Phill R to face the Slammers' hitters. Phill and usual battery mate Clay S managed to keep the Red Sox hitters down to 1 run in the 1st and 1 run in the 4th assisted by some good plays in the field, in particular a great outfield catch by Josh A and some out of position plays by Kynan M at shortstop. The Crusaders' bat were back this week with Josh, Kynan and Paul H all getting on base multiple times and with everyone else chipping in with timely hitting it meant the good guys in Green and Gold scored 9 runs to finish winners 9-2. Many Thanks to our small but very vocal supporters and to Liam our scorer who was back after a couple of weeks off. The Crusaders are back in action next Friday Night at 6:30 against Mets, so why not come on down, grab some food and drink from the canteen and cheer the team on.

Caspers Turbos

This week saw the Caspers Turbos take on the Red Sox Snappers. Both teams played really well. Our fielding was great, and we have had a few players really shine through with the bat.. Each and every week the kids have been amazing with supporting each other throughout the games and I couldn’t be more proud of them.. Congratulations to Noah for player of the week..

Caspers Grasshoppers

It was a stinking hot and humid morning on the diamond at Moorebank. But everyone was excited because today was the day we got our new jerseys! With help from Jean from our major sponsor Little Buddies Early Learning Centre, each player was presented with their own peronalised jersey. What an exciting start to the day.

On the diamond, the team looked so professional and they played like it too. Oscar Rixon took out the Inspirational Design Joinery player of the week with Jasper taking out the Maccas award. Both Rixon boys played an outstanding game with great batting and decisive, focused fielding. Dexter got a runner out on Third and Steve made a really close play on First where the call could have gone either way. There was great communication and team work between everyone. It is amazing to see the difference in the teams' fielding over the last few weeks. Another fantastic day for the Grasshoppers, I can't wait until next week!

Thanks to everyone who helped out, Darren, Grant, Chris, Nathan, Kirsty, Carl and all the parents and Grandparents who support the team week in, week out.

Caspers Cyclones

The Caspers Cylones Tballers made the trek down the Hume Hwy to take on a the Camden Red Sox. The boys have been working hard at training practicing running 2 bags at a time and tagging players to make the out. Even tho we didn’t hit any big hit today, the team still batted well. We did however make some tag ours which was great to see. This team keeps improving each week, and are enjoying the game.

Caspers Sandlot

This week, after weeks of anticipation, Sandlot were finally presented with their playing jerseys thanks to On Deck and the amazing gang at Little Buddies Early Learning.

Sandlot were presented with their jerseys from the Little Buddies team, including the coaches, scorer and the Little Buddies cheer squad.

A massive thank you to Jean and Haylee from Little Buddies for our slick threads this season!!

Sandlot then quickly turned to business. The hot day helped the hot start by Sandlot taking an early lead and not giving it up.

Patient at bats and good hard base running by everyone set up a commanding win, helped by some outstanding pitching and fantastic fielding- capped off by a coach killing double play and a shot from left field to home to throw out a runner.

This weeks Inspirational Design Joinery Player of the Week was Chris with a solid game behind the plate, making some great catches and tags at home. The McDonalds award this week went to Noah, with some excellent pitching, a great play to throw a runner out at home and leading the Sandlot cheers.
