Summer 2021-22 Round 1!

I know how much everyone has missed these!! Please don't forget to give it a like!!

Lets get to it!!

LRC Over 35s

Caspers Barbarians

The new look Barbarians took on St Marys at Woodlands. We'd never played St Marys before so we didn't know what to expect. Damo opened the pitching with Scott at catcher.

They made some in roads but St Marys got five across in the first. We responded with three of our own. In the 2nd innings, Daniel made a fantastic double play at short stop with a catch a play at 2nd base. But unfortunately St Marys managed to get another 3 across.

Andrew took on pitching duties in the 3rd and managed keep the score down. Damo did one of his signature plays for a foul ball, almost colliding with Scott. Not quite as photo worthy as last season but entertaining none the less.

A huge storm ended our night a few minutes early with the final result 15-5 St Marys way. It was a great first round and we're looking forward to our next meeting where I think we might be able to give them a bit of a touch up.

Caspers Crusaders

The Crusaders returned to the Casperdome keen to get the season underway. We all looked the part in the fantastic new jerseys , thanks to sponsors Carroll & O’Dea Lawyers.

Unfortunately, the long layoff showed and in both fielding and batting, the rust was obvious. Phill and Josh kept us in it with their pitching and hitting, and eventually things started to click.

Some nice fielding by Corey at short, a great catch by Keno, a looong run down play by Phill and Grant after a fine pickoff move by Josh made us look good.

New boy Blake provided some clinical work behind the plate and kept any runners honest. Hits came late, with a couple of 2-down rallies getting us ahead.

Consistent hitting by Josh and Phill, great running by Keno as usual, and no luck but great at bats by Blake helped turn the tide.

Everyone did their job with the bat in the last innings, culminating in a great come-back win to start the season.

Aussie T-Ball

Caspers Crocodiles

It was great to finally get our Aussie T-Ball Crocodiles out there this morning.

What this brand new team lacks in experience, they certainly make up for in enthusiasm and general level of awesomeness!

Bailey was impressive all over the field today chasing down every ball he could - and Aidan, Hendrix and Luke's hitting kept us moving around the bases.

Sylvia was as up-beat as ever and tried her best at first base to get the ball home safely. Mason and Declan were both great in field too - and their base running showed they've been listening at training.

Player of the Week this week went to Zoe. Her improvement in base running between the first inning and the last one was great to see - and she showed great hustle when she was playing catcher.

The Dugout Award went to Aidan for getting back out there and trying his best after a tough patch in middle of the game.

Nice game Crocodiles - it was a great way to start the season.

U8s T-Ball

Caspers Raptors

Well we're to start on today's post.

I'm so proud of how well the kids went today. The improvement of them all towards the end was amazing.

As mentioned to the kids this week was about having fun as is every week. I cant single out anyone of our little ones as they all had such an amazing first game.

Kenzy: ( she likes to be called ) for her first game did unbelievable such a natural talent. She listens and always smiles.

Kade: mate proud of your efforts on getting the players out what a champion Eli: as always such a superstar in hitting and your speed

Bashy: I loved the very last hit especially with his gloves he wanted on for it he killed it. And I'm proud how much he listened today.

Tommy: my favourite catcher, he always does such a well rounded job there and the after game wrestles toped it lol

Oscar: you did awsome in batting each bat he was so excited for but mostly from dad and the red frogs aha but all in all very impressed with his batting.

Finnick: my man the silent assassin, your batting and listening today went above and beyond I love to watch everything you do well done.

From next week i will start to hand out player of the match, so this will be awarded to not only the performance in the game but also at training and at home so make sure you remember our 2 rules

1) run fast

2) listen

Have a good weekend family well done

Caspers Cyclones

The U8 Tball Caspers Cyclones traveled down the Hume highway nice and early Saturday morning for our 8am game to take on our Counterparts Caspers Raptors, hosted by bankstown.

Our team worked on getting outs at training by tagging players is close enough to do so. We also practiced making outs at the correct bases.

It was awesome to see the team carrying out what we had trained and incorporate it into the game situation.

It was also great to see our two new recruits into our Cyclone team fit in so well, and both played great.

Looking forward to watching the Caspers Cyclones improve during the season, and hopefully each of them achieve there Individual goals they set at training.

Zooka

Caspers Grasshoppers

Today was the day... it was the Grasshoppers first ever game playing zooka.

We were up against a class outfit, the Red Sox Naturals who are in their 2nd year playing zooka. We were the home team, so you to the field first.

Travis put on the catchers gear and set himself up in the firing line. He did a great job with the glove and I think loved every minute of it.

Red Sox got 4 across the plate and it was our turn to bat. We didn't have a lot of success but it was their first time facing a moving ball in competition.

We started to improve immensely as the game wore on. Eric was the first to hit off the zooka and in doing so managed to get our first and only runner (Travis) home and scored his first ever RBI. Nicola also got a good tap from the machine, gettingherto first base and advancing our runners.

We also had some solid infield plays getting runners out on the base by Lucas, Charlotte and Nicola. Beau took on catching duties in the 2nd half. He looks like he's born to catch, doing a very solid job in the role.

It was a great first round for the Grasshoppers, lots of areas to improve on but we can already see the progress from the start of the game to the end of the game. The final score was 16-1 with Red Sox taking the win.

A huge thanks to Meg and Libby for scoring, Ross for umpiring, Nathan for coaching, Kellie for canteen and Kirsty for photos. And a huge thanks to everyone for coming out to support your Grasshoppers.

Majors

Caspers Sandlot

Sandlot we’re finally back on the Diamond!!!

With some new faces, a bigger, stronger and pumped up Sandlot took on Red Sox Rock Hounds for the first round of the 2021/22 season.

Seth started the season hot for Sandlot, smacking the first hit (a double no less) and getting us off to a flying start.

Noah followed that up with a double of his own to get us on the board first.

In the field Sandlot looked sharp, with some excellent pitching, great catching (Chris and Nicola) and some good fielding keeping the Rock Hounds off the scoreboard all game.

The Sandlot bats were hot though, with plenty of base runners from some good hitting and watchful eyes drawing walks.

Tristan, Bray, Zachy, Cooper, Jess, Jacob and Tommie all had important at bats to ensure a solid win.

The Rookies- Cooper, Tristan and Zachy, it was a great game from them all contributing when needed to make sure the good guys and girls in green started the season well.

Thanks as always to Neisha for scoring, Phill for umpiring and to the large and vocal crowd for cheering home the Sandlot!!

Saturday Seniors

Caspers Cartel

A refreshed, new-look Cartel took to the diamond for the grudge match of the century against Ghosts Centaurs at Hilder.

Trev opened up the pitching and kept the Centaurs to 3 across the plate.

We responded with 2 of our own... it was on!

In the second, Damo took a sensational catch in right field while Scott took a screamer in left field in the third.

Our Red Sox friendship players all made sensational contributions with tags at third for Shaun and Graeme and David getting some good outs at second.

Sadly, we were a little under done with our batting and only managed 4 runs in response to Centaurs 14. But it was a hugely fun game with friendly banter peppered with the occasional sledge.

It was a game that was less about the score and more about having a good time with great mates.

A huge shout out to David, Shaun, Graeme and Chris for taking the plunge and joining the team.

We're very lucky to have you guys on board. Thank you to Neisha for scoring, you did a first class job as always.
